Welcome Cal!!!

Meet Cal. He is the such a handsome puppy and his mom is really sweet too. He loves eating, sleeping, and having an occasional burst of energy. He's like a wind up toy. He'll run around the apartment playing with all of his toys and then all of a sudden realize he's sleepy and fall asleep. He repeats this process, eat - play - sleep sleep sleep - eat - play - sleep sleep sleep, all day. He's doing really well with his potty training and is growing every day.

Take a moment to play with this little cutie while he's still small enough to carry - soon he'll be a big boy! Look at that squishy face and puppy belly - so adorable!

Welcome Cal!

Ellie is so therapeutic...

This is Ellie, a 4 year old Apricot Fawn pug, she's Teddy's cousin living in Texas.
For the past two years Ellie competed in Agility earning the top title of #1 Pug in the United States in two agility categories, no small feat for such a small dog. Unfortunately in October of 2008 Ellie had an accident on the practice field which left her paralyzed on both her back legs and with two herniated discs in her back. Luckily she regained the use of her legs but can no longer compete in Agility. So, Ellie being the strong willed pug that she is, she tried out and was accepted by a dog therapy group in San Antonio, TX. Ellie visits civilian and military hospitals, nursing homes and elementary schools. She wears her little Therapy Dog vest with her name embroidered on the side and a big smile on her pug face. Ellie is one "pugnacious" pug!

5 Amigos

We had a dog play-date yesterday and invited all of Teddys Friends who use our service, dog field trips. Attending dogs were: My Teddy, Little Teddy, Sophie, Mac, and Ben. My Teddy and Little Teddy are the annoying little brothers of the group. Mac is the big daddy who keeps everyone in check. Ben is really just happy to be with friends and he'll play or do whatever the group does, he's easy-going. And Sophie is the pretty sister who doesn't want to be bothered with the boys.

Here are some pictures, in no particular order, of the dogs playing and then falling asleep. They had a great time playing at home, at the park, and on a walk. They are really great friends.

Teddys Friends LOVES our customers!

I got the best surprise tonight from one of my customers, aka, friends. They are the nicest family and so very thoughtful. I was sitting in my apartment watching TV when the doorbell rang. I saw the concierge from my building standing outside of my apartment through the little peephole and I was thinking "WTF"? Cupcakes? Me? Me + Cupcakes? Me + concierge + cupcakes?????? Huh??? I wouldn't have been more surprised if I saw the Virgin Mary on a banana.

So, I curiously opened the door and received the most amazing cupcakes ever and a thank you note from one of my customers for taking care of their dog - who is also insanely sweet. This is the best gift ever! THANKS SO MUCH Brian and Jeff!!! You're so thoughtful! I LOVE THEM! And, these aren't your run of the mill Betty Crocker cupcakes. These are luxurious cupcakes fit for a queen.

(and thank you to my other customer, Mary, who gave me peanut brittle and oatmeal cookies this week)

I'm always saying "geez, I'm walking dogs all day but I haven't really lost any weight." Hmmmm....wonder why. lol. Hahaha...... keep em' coming.

Rowdy has the coolest ride, with his own licence plate.

This is Rowdys dad, Chris. Chris came to hang out with us one night and we took this cute picture of him holding my dog - Teddy. My dog is about 50 pounds and looks really freaked out in the picture, but Teddy secretly loves being held.

Chris is a dog lover who takes his dog, Rowdy (and step-brother Bean, a Westie), to the dog park in his pimped out ride. Rowdy has expensive taste and will only go to the dog park in style. He has a collar with the word "STUD" all over it which speaks to his lady-killer lifestyle.

Check out Chris with my dog Teddy and Rowdy's ride, complete with personalized license plate. Rowdy never hears "no" - he's very spoiled. He only responds to yes.

Ares

Check out the newest member of Teddys Friends....ARES! He's a handsome boy with an adorable face and the most interesting markings. He is such a gentleman and he is so sweet. He enjoys lounging around the house, running with his mom, visiting the dog park, and meeting new friends.

If you see him around the neighborhood say hello because he's new here and he really loves dogs. And humans.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend at Teddys Friends. We had a dog field trip to Great Waters Park in Annapolis MD - they have tons of walking trails and a really awesome dog park with water and waves! Check this out!

We took my Teddy, Little Teddy, and Sophie. They all had a great time splashing through the surf and chasing each other. There were dogs of all sizes and the best swimmer was a little yorkie who was honestly about 2 pounds. I took a picture of her swimming to show you, its hard to see her though. She's that little speck of fur in the water with the tennis ball. lol.

Chloe

Chloe is a little girl who was supposed to be 10 pounds-ish but didn't want to stop growing. She is, and I'm guessing here, maybe about 20 pounds now.

...20 pounds of fun!

I'm watching her for the week and boy, she is keeping me on my toes! She sleeps in a luxurious crate at night, complete with a dog bed, blanket, toys, and view of the outside world. However, she will avoid this crate like the plague. I learned the hard way that she doesn't want to go in there when she dodged my for an hour one night.

Every time I'd try to catch her she'd run the other direction, under the table, under the couch, basically go anywhere where I couldn't catch her. She just kept moving. I tried to lure her in with treats but she is too smart for that. Eventually she got tired and went to sleep but wow, this dog is hilarious!

She is a really good dog and she loves my dog, Teddy. Really, she loves every dog.

Isn't she cute!

Molly and Esther - Southern Belles

Molly and Esther are very proper little southern belles. They are so dainty and quiet - unless they see a particular boxer that they really don't like. Then, its an all out war. These girls have hearts of gold and fur that is coarse but soft at the same time. They are very cute and love leopard print, their blankie, and their mom and dad.

Piper: Part 2

Piper is a sweet little girl who loves rolling in the grass and hogging attention away from her brother, Von Diesel. She's always looking for goodies on the ground to add to her toy collection and today she found...

Mens Work gloves!

She saw them on the ground, sniffed them, bit them, realized they roll around and are squishy, and thought "PERFECT TOY - SCORE!!!!" She tried to put them on top of her toy pile but I had to take them away from her, because, well...those gloves were gross and not fit for such a princess.

(sorry for the blurry picture - its a picture from my phone)

Pepsi

Meet Pepsi. He's the newest member of Teddys Friends weighing in at about, ummm, 4 pounds? It could be less than that. He is teeny tiny. And ADORABLE!

If you're wondering why he's named Pepsi, its because his owner first saw him in a picture sitting next to a pepsi can. He's that small.

He loves jumping, running, and playing with toys. He's pictured here at the local dog park.

Lilly love Butterflies

Lilly is the prettiest little girl on the 4300 block of Alexandria. Check her out while she's chasing an innocent little butterfly. The butterfly got away and wasn't harmed in any way. Lilly had a little fun chasing after it for awhile and trying to figure out why it could fly. How cute!!!!

Basking in the sun is Magnus' favorite past-time!

Welcome Magnus! Teddys Friends is so happy to welcome you to our pack of cute, crazy, funny, silly, stress-reducing dogs!

Magnus is a 9 year old Giant Schnauzer with an addiction to his toy called "Angry Mad Kitty." Everytime I go to his house he gets so excited that he runs around dragging along this poor poor kitty toy. I'm really surprised that it is still in one piece because he whips it around like a rag doll. He's a really good boy and he's incredibly handsome. I wish he could talk because if he could, I'd have him teach my dog how to walk properly on a leash. Magnus gets 5 stars for his leash skills, he's easy breezy!

Goin' Country! (and picture crazy)

This weekend was the ultimate in dog field trips as far as Teddys Friends is concerned. On Saturday we took all the dog-park lovin' dogs to Shirlington for some running around and Sunday.... drum roll please....

We went Country! Us city folk can use a trip up north once in awhile, wouldn't you agree? Goodbye Alexandria, hello middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania! The area we visited is very relaxing as long as one can get used to crappy cell phone reception, time-warp fashion trends, and the nearest coffee shop serving powdered latte mix disguised as a latte. Oh, you want flavor in that latte? Here is some hazelnut flavored creamer. EEEWWWWW.

Anyway, its not really that bad. There are some fine points, think 25 cent hot wings, $1 beers, and peace and quiet. Mostly, the slow pace is what I love. And the tranquility. Yes, lovely tranquility.

We brought Sadie along with us. She is a gorgeous super-model of a Rottweiler who loves treats, walks, chasing Teddy, attention from humans, doing tricks like sit, down and stay, and getting rubbed and petted by me (and her real family of course!). I literally pet her for 2 hours on our way to PA. Every time I stopped petting her she'd nudge me with her cute little nose. Her and Teddy get along really well though she beats him up all the time. He just lays there letting her pick on him.

The dogs ran and played all day and experienced some new things along the way. New smells, new animals, tasty ice-cream (YUM!), flea markets, and the freedom of basking in the sun without a leash. It was AWESOME for us and the dogs. I can't wait to do this again!

I love Saturdays at the Dog Park.

Teddys Friends likes to host a dog field trip at least once per week to Shirlington Dog Park. The weather has been so nice lately and its always so enjoyable to watch the dogs swim. Teddy, my dog, doesn't swim. He just hops around and looks for sticks. My husband and I tried to go into the water with him for encouragement but still no luck.

This weekend we went to the dog park with Ben, Teddy, Rowdy and Bean (brothers from another mother). My human friends met up with me there and helped tire out the dogs with a game of fetch. All of the dogs, except for Teddy, LOVE playing fetch and will chase a tennis ball for hours without getting bored. Ben is so energetic and doesn't realize how big he is. He whips around the park with no cares in the world. His only concern is ball ball ball throw the ball ball ball throw the ball. I think that's what he thinks of, like counting sheep. Except more interactive.

Rowdy and Bean also love tennis balls except they don't really run. They walk briskly to the ball and then carry it around like a hot potato, passing it to each other like a team.

All of this fun happens while my Teddy marches to a different drummer, i.e. stick searching. His all-time favorite hobby is digging holes and you can often find him behind a tree starting a hole.

Happy Saturday!

Sisters are the sweetest!

Meet Lilly and Lilo, or L&L as we like to call them. They are sisters who love each other so much and protect each other from all sorts of things... but mostly other dogs.

They really love dog beds and have about 6 of them in all shapes and sizes. They have a very special dog bed that is fit for a princess complete with pink alligator-ish print and a pink fluffy middle for comfy sleeping. If that isn't enough to make any girl jealous, they also have matching pink harnesses with a silver paw print motif. These girls have a posh life full of rest, relaxation, and plenty of love.

Teddys Friends loves these two sisters! Hugs for sisters!

El Destructo

Meet Mac, also known as El Destructo. He is in the doghouse. For a long time. A really long time.

Last night my friend Megan and I put together over 100 treat bags for the Teddys Friends clients and also for clients we have yet to meet. Megan and I went all around Alexandria to pick up prime goods for the bags. We got t-bone steaks, chicken wing shaped snacks, chicken strips, snausages, and milkbones. All the yummy treats dogs could ever want, ... packed neatly into little giveaway bags. Well. Not so much.

We put them into a big blue bag for storage until we needed them for the weekend and well, Mac ate them. 37 bags to be exact. That is the equivalent of:

15 Milkbones (he left some of those)
37 Snausages
37 Chicken strips
37 T-bones
37 Chicken wing snacks
Total = 163 high calorie low nutrition treats.

All 163 treats are in Macs belly now guys, so, sorry pups. No treats this weekend. We have to re-buy and re-load. Grrrrrrrrr.

It's impossible to be mad at him though because he has a horrible stomach ache now and as you can imagine, some serious digestive issues. Glad I'm off the clock for this one. :)

I think the funniest part of the entire destruction is that he took each bag individually and chewed out a hole in the bottom to retreive the treats. He must have been getting full though because he did leave some milkbones. Those were last on his list to eat. But the other treats, yummmm-o.

Hide your treats owners, these dogs are CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roscoe loves walks

Roscoe is a handsome gentleman who loves a fine stroll on a warm afternoon. He walks so well on a leash and gently looks at me as if to say "Can you please please let me sniff this tree for just a tad longer." He is a very dignified little fellow who likes the finer things in life like real dried chicken tender treats and rice mixed in with his food. He's a lucky guy!

World Puppy Wrestling Federation - WPWW

Let's get rrrrreeeeaddddddyyyyyy to RUMMMMMMMBBBBBLE!

We have Fonzi in one corner weighing in at 3 pounds and Lilly in one corner weighing in at 7 pounds. Both are roaring and ready to go after a little morning nap. Oh my gosh, Lilly is tackling Fonzi and using her puppy belly to crush him. Wait,....FONZI wins! He used all his might and escaped the choke hold to growl and snarl and win the WWPW this morning!

Go FONZI! Better luck next time Lilly, we all know you were just being sweet and letting him win.

Puppy Love: Fonzi and Lilly

Fonzi and Lilly are both tiny little puppies with hearts of gold and enough energy to rule the world. They met while outside learning to potty and immediately formed a bond that is more than just puppy love.

Lilly was featured in a previous post. Since then she's grown a bit bigger and become more independent. She wants to do all the walking by herself and is getting better about going potty outside.

Fonzi is a new dog to Teddys Friends. He is bichon-poodle with the cutest little fro and pink puppy belly. SO CUTE! He has a wide variety of toys and a comfy dog bed complete with a blanket to cuddle up in when his mom is at work. When Fonzi and I go for a walk he'll happily follow me wherever I go for as long as we go - without getting tired. Trust me, this dog has some major stamina. Maybe they make red bull for dogs?

Teddys Friends loves Fonzi and Lilly, and all our our dog friends! Welcome Fonzi!
